Learn about different types of industrial belts

The belts are the most crucial part of any of the industrial machines. A belt drive and a pair of pulleys are attached to the parallel shafts that work to transmit motion from one shaft to the other. The amount of power transmitted depends on one various factor that includes the velocity of belts, tension, contact between pulley and belts and the type of belts are used.

There are four different types of correas industriales 10 -1 are used in the belt drives. The belt types include the following.

  • Round belts
  • V belts
  • Flat belts
  • Toothed/timing belts

Flat belt:

It is one of the simplest belt types that has a rectangular cross-section and is made up of different materials. Flat belts are used to transfer power. A flat belt uses the friction output between the belt and pulley to transmit the power. If minimal vibration is required, then flat belts can be the right choice because of their semi-elastic construction. To hold the pulleys and to eliminate the high belt tension the high-strength flat belts are used. With its design, flat belts can run on both sides and so they can be used for multiple belt drives.

V-belts:

One of the widely used belt types in many industrial applications is V-belts. The V-belts are used when need to transfer a large amount of power from one pulley to another. One of the significant reasons to use V-belts is that it helps in solving the alignment and the slippage problems while the belt drives are attached to the pulleys. They offer many advantages compared to other types of belts. The cross-section of V-belts is trapezoidal.

Circular belts:

Round belts are commonly used only in low torque operations. These types of grooves are only suitable for idler puller which guides the belt. Round belts are different from other belt types which are exclusively used for motion transmission. Also, they can be guided easily in all directions due to their cross-section.

Timing belts:

Timing belts are the best type of belts that operates only at low noise and there is no need for lubrication. The timing belts can track the movements and if they are properly attached they move at a constant speed and there will be no frequent slippage. Timing belts are considered to be the most efficient belt type ad they require only the least tension. Thus, these are the types of correas industriales 10 -1.
